Photography > New Work: Vanitas
My new work "Vanitas" uses a flatbed scanner as camera to photograph environments constructed on the scanning surface. For this project, a high-fidelity image is captured in a way that exploits the scanner’s shallow sense of space and mimics the atmospheric glow of objects in Dutch Golden Era paintings. Conceptually, the images in "Vanitas" are visual metaphors that represent personal observations of universal experiences of loss, absence and transformation
